WHISTLEPIG Straight Rye Whiskey 12 Year Old World is a 12-year-old American rye whiskey that stands out for its complex finishing process. After aging for over a decade in new American oak, the whiskey is divided and finished in three different “Old World” wine casks: Port pipes (7%), French Sauternes barrels (30%), and Madeira casks (63%). This combination of finishes seeks to fuse the boldness and character of American rye with the elegance and grace of European whiskies. The result is an 86 proof (43% ABV) whiskey with a nose offering notes of caramel, vanilla, and winter fruit. On the palate, rye spice, apricots, plums, raisins, dates, and honey are perceived. The finish presents dark chocolate, winter fruit, caramel, and vanilla.
