WHISTLEPIG Piggy Back Big Papi is a limited-edition American rye whiskey from the WhistlePig PiggyBack “Legends” series, created in collaboration with baseball legend David “Big Papi” Ortiz. This 100% rye whiskey is aged for six years in American oak barrels and then uniquely finished in barrels containing DO34 maple wood bats, Ortiz’s signature. This makes it the world’s first toasted baseball bat-finished whiskey. Bottled at 96.56 proof (48.28% ABV), this whiskey seeks to celebrate dedication and excellence, offering a distinctive flavor profile with sweet, spicy, and smoky notes. Aromas of caramel, vanilla, baking spices (cinnamon and nutmeg), and tropical fruits (banana and pineapple) are described. On the palate, it is rich and complex, with notes of brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, banana, and even a hint of maple syrup, with possible touches of toasted oak and peppery spice. The finish may have a hint of peanut brittle.
