WHISTLEPIG Straight Rye Whiskey 12 Year Old World Barrel Selection is a premium expression of WhistlePig’s renowned 12-year-old rye whiskey. This whiskey represents a marriage between the bold character of American rye and the sophistication of Old World wine casks. After 12 years of aging in new American oak, the whiskey undergoes a finishing process in a blend of Port pipes (7%), French Sauternes barrels (30%), and Madeira casks (63%). This triple cask maturation seeks to impart a unique complexity, fusing the spicy notes of rye with the fruity and sweet nuances of European wines. The result is an 86 proof (43% ABV) whiskey with a rich and layered flavor profile. On the nose, aromas of caramel, vanilla, and winter fruit can be perceived. On the palate, it unfolds rye spices, apricots, plums, raisins, dates, and honey, culminating in a finish with notes of dark chocolate, winter fruit, caramel, and vanilla.
